Safety and Restraining Orders
FIRST: BE SAFE AND KEEP YOUR CHILDREN SAFE.
If in a violent relationship, there are resources available to get to a safe place. In Pierce County, the YWCA, the Crystal Judson Center, as well as shelters, and other resources are available. When there is a history of violence or threat of violence, a Domestic Violence Protection Order (aka “No Contact Order”) may be advisable. Within a family law matter, such as a dissolution, a Family Law Restraining Order to preserve the assets until conclusion of a dissolution action is often appropriate. Consult with a family law attorney to determine what is the best course of action for you in your particular case.
