Contested Divorce: When parties cannot settle their issues without court assistance, the dissolution is considered contested. It is important to know that some cases begin highly contentious, but end up settling without going to trial. Be reasonable and do not expect unrealistic outcomes. Recognize that the courtroom is no different from life–just as you seldom get justice in life, accept that justice will not magically appear in the courtroom. Typically, parties get some of what they want and a whole lot of what they do not want.
